The Complete Guide to 3D, 6D Eyebrow Embroidery:
When it comes to 3D, 6D eyebrow embroidery, definitely there will be a lot of questions that come to your mind. How to obtain that celebrity/influencer “no make up” make up brow look? Is it worth it to spend on it? We have break down the most common basics of this interesting procedure, and here are 12 things you need to know before you decide to try it for yourself:
- How many types of eyebrow embroidery are there in the market?
Some people call it 3D, 6D ,7D or Gradient Brow Tattooing, but the most common and literal term is eyebrow embroidery and microblading. Actually, there is only one type. Those fancy names are created to attract customer’s attention.
- Is it the same with eyebrow tattoo?
They are not the same. Traditional eyebrow tattoo can literally being called permanent eyebrow embroidery because it last pretty long. The technique which they are using is a single needle tool to cut and add colour into deeper layer of the skin epidermis which can make the tattoo last for 4-5 years. However, the colour will looks darker and it will naturally fade off and that is where blue, green, grey or red colour pigmentation occur after awhile. This is often the most unfavourable part of eyebrow tattoo.
- How much does it cost?
The range is having quite a significant difference from $100-$1,500 depending on how experience and good the brow artist/salon and the price you are willing to pay for a decent pair of eyebrows. As eyebrow embroidery is considered as a semi permanent project on your face, we urge you to research and carefully review portfolios of brow artists(Our artist is Ms. Jenny Xu) and make sure that they’re legit before proceeding. A professional should also consult you with the shape and colour before they begin with the eyebrow microblading process.
- What is exactly Eyebrow Embroidery and Microblading?
It is a technique where we use 9-12 needles in line to cut out hairlike strokes on the eyebrows. It took more than just adding colours on your eyebrows, a great eyebrow embroidery artist has the ability to create hairline strokes that perfectly blend to your original eyebrow which you cannot tell which real eyebrows are and which are the new embroidered hairline strokes. This is ART. They are the painting artist of the industry.
- Does it hurts?
It won’t hurt as much as compared with tattooing. Your brow artist will apply numbing cream or anesthetic to keep the process practically painless. Therefore, unless you have any serious allergies or sensitivities to the artist’s anaesthetic, then eyebrow microblading shouldn’t hurt. In fact, eyebrow threading could be even more painful than eyerbrow embroidery.
- How long is the eyebrow embroidery process?
The appointment should take about two hours.
- Do I expect dark brows after the first session?
According to the norm, for the first 1-2 days, your eyebrows will appear darker and bolder. Approximately after 3 – 5 days, your eyebrows will look lighter from the first session as your skin heals over the pigment. However, Browart Studio’s artist who perform greater skills can minimize the effect and our customers often walk out with confidence without dark looking eyebrows.

Customer will be requested to come back for a touch up after 1 month when the skin is fully recovered. Typically, after 1-2 touch up, the embroidered eyebrows will last you for 1 year to 1 year plus. Most people will have their color of the new brow fade off after 10 days of eyebrow embroidery from various reasons. The reasons could be due to individual care routine and skin type/ condition.
- What is the aftercare and why do we need it?
After you are done with the embroidery process, you are advised to prevent in contact with water and perspiration as possible.
Please avoid to scratch or peel the skin otherwise colour pigmentation will fall off with the scab.
Also, do not apply make up or skincare products on the brows. Your eyebrows need to rest. Usually the eyebrow embroidery result will stabilised after 10 days after the skin covered up the pigment.
Aftercare cream will be provided so you can apply and it helps to speed up the recovery process.

- Can I still put make up on my brows after eyebrow embroidery?
We will discourage that especially when your eyebrows are still healing from the process. Another reason why we discourage it is because the whole idea of getting your brow embroidered is to have natural, good looking brows, there’s no need for extra beautification anymore on the brows when it is done right.
